About us

We make US taxes make sense.

Tax Lawyer Hub is an independent educational publication. We translate complicated tax topics into clear, accurate, plain-English explanations so everyday Americans can make informed decisions.

Our mission

The US tax code runs thousands of pages long, and the rules change every year. That complexity hits hardest for the people with the least access to professional help: students filing for the first time, freelancers handling 1099s, small business owners learning what an LLC really means at tax time, and families trying to figure out which credits they qualify for.

We exist to close that gap. Every guide, calculator, and glossary entry on this site is designed to answer one question clearly, with worked examples and links to authoritative sources like the IRS so you can verify everything for yourself.

What we publish

  • In-depth guides on income tax, self-employment, deductions, credits, capital gains, and more.
  • Free calculators that run entirely in your browser — no accounts, no data collection.
  • A 200+ term glossary that defines tax jargon in everyday language, with examples.
  • FAQs covering the questions readers ask most.

Editorial standards

We hold every piece of content to four standards:

  1. Accuracy. We cite IRS publications and other primary sources. When figures change year to year, we update the article and stamp it with the date.
  2. Clarity. No legalese for its own sake. If a term needs to be technical, we define it.
  3. Independence. We do not sell tax services, accept paid placements inside articles, or write sponsored guides.
  4. Honesty about limits. Education is not advice. Every article ends with a reminder to consult a licensed professional for decisions specific to your situation.

Who we are

Tax Lawyer Hub is run by a small team of writers and editors with backgrounds in personal finance journalism. We are not your CPA, not your tax attorney, and not your accountant — but we have spent years explaining tax topics to general audiences, and we know how to do it well.

How we are funded

The site is supported by display advertising and, in the future, optional reader donations. We do not earn affiliate commissions from any tax software or service that we mention. Ad placements never influence which topics we cover or what we say about them.

Corrections policy

If you spot an error, please tell us. We correct material errors within two business days and add a visible correction note to the article when the change affects the substance of an answer.

This site is educational. Nothing on Tax Lawyer Hub is, or is intended to be, legal, financial, tax, or accounting advice. Always consult a licensed professional for guidance specific to your situation.
